Let's Get Acquainted
I, Shiney James, am taking this time to reflect on my purpose in life.
A mere three years ago, I would have said that my purpose was to be a strong family member, a good friend, a hardworking employee, and reliable community member. The experiences in the pandemic and the time that follows demonstrated to me that I need to connect with my own purpose not the labels that I allow society to categorize me in.
I recently resigned from a career in higher education and realized that I want to do more in the world that makes a difference. I am going to take these steps to find my purpose.
- Slow down to embrace the great people and moments in my daily life
- Find balance between what I am good at and what brings me joy
- Reconnect with nature, spirituality, and meditation
- Observe the world around me and create my true purpose within it
I know I have a great deal of strength in connecting with people who are different from me and bringing them together to achieve a common goal. The mission now is to find the goal.
